caged animals – eat their own – all the beautiful things in the world

today’s song is accompanied by a video. this brooklyn bunch released their debut album at the end of last year, but they’ve got a new video for the stand out track on their album, which gives us one more good reason to listen to the lovely tune. the video is rich with found footage of naked girls having a gay ole time on the beach and when i say naked, i mean there is not a stitch of clothing in the entire video. it’s a gorgeous song and the video’s shamelessness somehow serves it well. www.facebook.com/cagedanimals

coolrunnings – spirit of the high

the knoxville boys released a couple of new tracks over the weekend. one of them is a cover of george mccrae’s “rock your baby”, which you can listen to here, and the other is this new semi-rockabilly diddy that’s easy lovin dripping with reverb. it’s just the type of song to get you moving on sluggish mondays. www.twitter.com/COOLRUNNINGSKNX

the jesus and mary chain – psychocandy – just like honey

it’s 1985. the glasgow bunch release their debut album featuring this amazing track, which aside from being used at the end of lost in translation is their most notable song, next to “reverance” which is on honey’s dead, their fourth album. pyschocandy has been heralded by many critics and music lovers alike as one of the best albums of all time and we agree. you just don’t hear guitar lines like the reids’ anymore.

lissy trullie – madeleine

the new york city modern day nico is finally releasing her debut album this march. her debut ep came out in 2009, so yes, it’s been a while. tv on the radio’s dave sitek had a hand producing the album, so let’s hope the wait will have been worth it. this first taste proves it must be. this track is grimy, gritty, and downright woozy. perfect for hazy sundays. www.trullie.com
